I was laying here reading while all my boys were asleep and the birds started to sing. Their chatter this morning has a frantic or mad tone to it. Usually it’s more relaxed and soothing sounding. I imagine they are as excited as everyone else is for a ground covering snow this late in April. I was really happy with just rain.
I am glad we made it home before this stuff appeared. We have about an inch. Because of the rain before it we have bad enough road conditions that the interstate has been shut down.
Back step a few minutes ago.
These all were shortly before dark.
Wrangler and Rex enjoying being home. I think Wrangler is bored because the satellite is out because of the snow.
We got home a little before 3. When I walked in the house it was 48. Our thermostat was set at 56. Well Wrangler shortly figured out that the thermocoupler went out on the furnace. We have not used heat in two weeks. Well luckily the heating company had people in our town and they swung by and fixed it. We now have heat.
It started raining at 1 am where we were at in Southwest Kansas. Dodge City has had around six inches. We been in the rain all day where ever we been. We have had around an inch at home.
We dropped off the trailer 40 miles away from home because the axle needed some repairs. Tomorrow or Sunday we take the truck to the shop. When they put the clutch in they messed a few things up. One thing us pretty major. Wrangler is mad. They will get it in Monday.
Sunset from last night. I had already posted for the day when I captured this.
My sign I made last weekend up on the door. I am getting ready to start another one for mom’s mother day gift. It will say Mrs. B****’s flowers. With a flower or two on it. Everyone in town knows her by that name since she has taught two generations of kids.
A hour ago we got lucky. We were driving down the road. When it was clear to pass and in a passing zone we pass another truck. When we were about even with the trucks window he comes shooting over into our lane to pass the truck in front of him. If there was not a wide shoulder we would have rolled for sure. The whole driver side of the truck was in the ditch. We called 911 and reported them. We only had a description no tag number. They never pulled him over. Now we got to where we are unloading and we discover damage to our semi and trailer from the ditch. So we will be calling the sheriff’s department again. He yelled in the cb he did not see is. Yet when Wrangler pulled the horn he continued to come over even more. I think he was probably play in on his phone.
We will be done for the day after going down the road a few miles. Tonight we will be in the Dodge City area and an unload and than one load left to load and deliver on the way home.
The pic was snapped just west of Hutchison, Kansas. The clouds were cool tonight.
Tonight was a way new experience for Wrangler and I. We stopped at a casino because it’s the only place that allows truck parking where we are at that has food. Well we went to the restaurant inside the casino for supper. It was a fancy french restaurant. We were both out of place. Here are some pictures. I brightened them up so you can see. It was so dark in there. They had expensive items on there menu. We ate a late lunch at 2 so I just had the side salad. Wrangler had a steak. Our bill was 50 bucks. All we had was water to drink. I about fell over.
Below are pics of Grove, Oklahoma which is surrounded on two sides by Grand lake. We are near there tonight.
Hi my name is Cinch and I am going to tell you about my crazy busy life.
There are two parts of my life. Let’s start with the biggest part of my life the road. This happens usually Monday through Friday. First thing in the morning if I am not all ready up in bed enjoying the fan with mom and dad I get up to snuggle with mom for a couple of minutes. Dad let’s me out before we hit the road. Luckily most of the time I get to run free for a couple minutes. I hate when we stay at noisy truck stops and have to be on a leash. I get no sleep there either as I watch the truck while my parents sleep.
Next we start to move down the road. Rex my brother is happy to have the bed. I like to be up next to mom because I hardly ever let her out of my sight. I spend my day when we are moving in three places. On the floor between Mom and Dad. In mom’s lap. It’s my favorite but if she has her camera or that ball string needle thing on her hand it’s not happening. The third is stretching out in the back with Rex for a couple of minutes. If mom goes back to nap I join her.
When we stop and dad leaves his seat I get up in his seat and guard the truck and mom. If mom gets out than I am really watching the truck. If people are 5 feet away they just get watched anything closer I bark and growl. People like to take pics of Rex and me driving. At night we get let out on last time by dad while mom gets everything ready for the night.
At home on the weekends my life is way different. I am outside constantly. I have free rein of the yard. I am constantly finding stuff to roll on. Logs, rocks, horse hooves to chew on. If I am lucky I can sneak my bone or ball outside. My favorite thing this time of year is water. I am either in the sprinkler or in the water tank. I love to go visit the horses where there is a bigger water tank. I run wild for two days and love my freedom. One of my favorite things is when majesty comes over. That is Grandma’s girl. We go on walks together and play tag.
Well we are headed back down the road again so I better get in my spot Cinch.
We are in the Texarkana, Arkansas area. We have a busy day tomorrow. Last night we ate at a very good restaurant near Joplin. Tonight we ate a good restaurant near Fort Smith. Lots of time it’s just truck stop food we get so any change is welcome.
Pictures are from Arkansas and Oklahoma today. Good night all.
